Giannis Papazoglou – our sailing teacher
We are happy to present to you Giannis Papazoglou – the sailing teacher, who is committed to take the young Ikarians into the sea.
Since the very beginning of its activities, the Nautical Club of Ikaria (NOI) is focusing on the building of a youth section as it is our goal to connect the young Ikarians with the heritage of their ancestors, who had been dedicated seafarers.
Over the last years, we have organized several summer sailing courses for the Ikarian youngsters – a difficult task, as we are facing many constraints. But we have not given up and now, in summer 2024, we are more than happy that we have a chance to have Giannis Papazoglou at our side. With him we are finally able to put our sailing lessons for kids on the next level.
Giannis Papazoglou is from Athens and since 2023 a teacher at the primary school in Christos Raches. Besides that, he is a professional sailing teacher in different categories (Optimist, Laser, Katameran) and he holds a professional certificate for surfing, too.
Together
with Mr Papazoglou we were able to reorganize our sailing lessons. We have
moved the summer training from the Marina in Agios Kirikos to Faros, which is
offering better access to the sea. And as Giannis Papazoglou will stay on
Ikaria, he is willing to work with us during winter, too.
